thanks for the reply. I didn't know Five Americans had played in the '90s, that's a bit of alright!

"Naive question: are any of the dead's albums still being sold on vinyl?"

To be fair Rhino has made some great cd box sets and remastered expanded lps on cd, but no vinyl in the last 10 years, so no GD on new vinyl.

I appreciate what they did with the 1st GD lp, expanded original tracks and improved sound.

I think their best GD surprise for me was the "Birth of the Dead", I just love that one track, "Keep Rolling By".

Has anyone besides me played that track and uncontrollably started going into a Fred Astaire frenzy - or at least a shimmy shimmy?

It's what Rhino hasn't done that irks me. In other words, what they've done is 4/5 stars, but they dropped the ball on plenty of things I don't even want to go into.

I am just looking at the Birth of the Dead and it looks like I need to pick-it-up since I love the period; as I sit here and listen to hey little one.

In looking at the lyrics of keep rolling by, I don't believe I have heard it before, but will check it out soon. So that was a traditonal tune that they arranged or was it a dead composition? I see traditional on some sites, but it appears to be in question.

btw: I like the pics...grace was quite the head-turner to say the least...

Keep Rolling By is supposed to be a traditional, but the way the GD play it, I find that hard to believe.

No idea why they didn't keep it in their repitoire, as obviously they spent time working on it.

I got the Slick pic from Gracie's myspace profile.
